Prayers that this message finds you and your loved ones safe and healthy.
The Church Review Team has met several times to discuss opening Emmanuel’s sanctuary for worship for all. After reviewing UCC and CDC guidelines and regional data provided by the New York State site NY Forward, we are delighted to welcome you back into the sanctuary for worship on April 25th, 2021.
For those who are curious about the guidelines and data, please refer to the note at the bottom of this letter. For the safety of all, we kindly ask you to prayerfully consider becoming vaccinated for the COVID-19 virus before rejoining us for in-person worship. We recognize that not everyone can be vaccinated, but CDC scientists recommend that 80% of a community be vaccinated to prevent the unchecked spread of the virus. We also ask that if you’re feeling sick in any way, please worship from home.
We will continue using other safety protocols, including wearing masks, using hand sanitizer, and social distancing, until the scientific guidelines change.
The members of the Church Review Team are listed below. Please feel free to reach out to them or any church leader if you have additional questions.
United with you in loving hope and faith,
Emmanuel Church Review Team Rev. JJ Flag Gerald Hettick Michael Brassard Linda Cole Katherine Crofton Carol Daddona Chris Ebey Dianne Nugent-Ward Julia Ransear Scot Zaffora-Reeder
Additional details about the data: The CDC uses two measurements to define transmission zones as “low,” “moderate,” “substantial,” and “high”: percent positive and the number of cases per 100,000 people. For the past month, both ways of measuring transmission were either “low” or very close to “low” for the North Country region.
