Pastor and Staff

The Emmanuel Transition Team, is pleased to announce the selection of our new Interim Minister, the Reverend Jane Wagner, who will help lead us through the next phase of our transition.

Rev. Jane eagerly comes to us after 11 years at the Carthage United Community Church, UCC, previously serving three United Methodist churches in New York.  She is the proud mother of three children and grandmother of four grandchildren.  Rev. Jane earned a Bachelor of Music degree from the Crane School of Music and a Master of Divinity from Queens Theological College.  She also has a professional Certification in Spiritual Formation and is finishing her Interim Ministry coursework in July.  You may also recognize Rev. Jane as the Program Director for the Promise Land Retreat Center in Harrisville, which serves as her home base and where Emmanuel has had several retreats and global mission team work parties over the last few years.

CHOIR DIRECTOR – SCOT ZAFFORA-REEDER
Scot Zaffora-Reeder is a versatile choir director with experience in a broad range of music.  He is trained classically in choral music, active with community musical productions, and a guitarist and folk singer who often performs solos, or plays in the Praise Band and other ensembles.  Scot is a naturally collaborative and affirming leader.  He has a good sense of humor, and knows how to draw the best out of the choir musically.  When Scot is out of town, Barbara Flynn, a gifted singer and instrumentalist (flute, tin whistle, recorder), assists as our interim choir director.
WORSHIP DRAMA DIRECTOR – DAVID COOPER
WORSHIP DRAMA DIRECTOR – DAVID COOPER
A theater major from the Buffalo State College, David has brought enormous creativity to Emmanuel’s worship drama program for 20 years. David is especially skilled at taking complete amateurs and making them real actors on stage. Working closely with the pastors, he has made drama a powerful tool of communicating the gospel in worship

CLOWN TROUPE CO-DIRECTORS - SARAH HOVEY AND GERALD HETTICK
Sarah Hovey is actually a professional clown named “Fifi” – you might catch  sight of her traveling to a job in her yellow Volkswagen beetle! Sarah is also active in local theater with the Watertown Little Theater. Gerald has been a clown for 15 years – his clown name is “Jerichoco.” Sarah and Gerald work closely with the pastors and other members of our Clown Troupe to write original mimes which illustrate the sermon, make the congregation laugh, and give a touching message!
NURSERY STAFF – Jacqui Laclair
NURSERY STAFF – Jacqui Laclair
Jacqui is our primary nursery staff person, and her gentle presence in our nursery creates a calm and loving environment.  We rely on her to be our “go to” person in the church nursery.
SEXTON – GAIL SCHWALM
SEXTON – GAIL SCHWALM
Gail is both our part-time sexton and a co-chair of our Deacons.  She loves Emmanuel, so caring for the building comes naturally to her.  You may see Gail taking out the trash, vacuuming the sanctuary, preparing the church on Sunday morning for service, or working in the kitchen, putting on a Stone Soup Luncheon.  She is a real doer and always works with a smile!
